Village Bela Bahadurpur · Sitamarhi, Bihar

Nurturing smiles of children in rural India

We work in rural villages to ensure children grow up with the nutrition, education, and wellness they deserve — because every child's smile is a new dawn.

A promise to every child in the village

Our Vision

To build a future where every child in the village has access to nutritious food, quality healthcare, and meaningful learning — empowering them to live with dignity, joy, opportunity, and hope.

Our Mission

To establish a village-level community centre that brings nutrition, education, and primary healthcare under one roof — built in genuine partnership with the community itself.

NUMK Care Foundation, through Navuday Muskaan, works at the grassroots level in Village Bela Bahadurpur, Sitamarhi — bringing children access to daily nutrition, joyful learning, and basic healthcare.

We believe lasting change cannot be imposed from outside — it must be built with the people it serves. When children are fed, they attend school. When they are given books and guided learning, they become curious. When families are engaged as partners, they sustain and expand what is built.

"Navuday" means a new dawn. "Muskaan" means a smile. One child, one smile, one new dawn at a time.

Nutrition

Why this matters

Rural Bihar faces a well-documented convergence of challenges for children. These are the realities that drive our work every single day.

⚠️ Ongoing Challenges in Rural Bihar
42.9%of children under five are stunted — a sign of chronic undernutrition that affects brain development and learning.
69%of children under five are anaemic, highlighting a critical need for iron-rich nutrition and healthcare.
22.9%suffer from acute wasting — a sign of severe, immediate malnutrition requiring urgent intervention.
📚Learning outcomes in rural Bihar remain far below national averages, with many children completing primary school unable to read a basic paragraph.
✅ Reasons for Hope
↓ MMRBihar's maternal mortality rate fell from 374 per 100,000 in 2005 to just 100 in 2022 — outpacing the national average decline.
94%of rural households in key districts now have tap water under the Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal initiative — reducing waterborne disease.
🌱When children are fed, they come to school. When families are engaged as partners, they sustain and expand what is built. We have seen this firsthand in Bela Bahadurpur.
"We are not here to deliver charity. We are here to build something lasting — a community centre model that is low-cost, locally embedded, and capable of growing with the village itself."
